Can anyone who owns an HLD-X9 player offer some advice on how to correctly park the laser prior to shipping the machine.
I am familiar with the process in other models such as the CLD-D925, DVL909, DVL919 etc but am not sure of the exact process in the HLD-X9.

In those other machines you ensure all discs are removed.
Use the remote control to power off the machine - waiting for any noises inside to finish as the laser is moved to the parked position.
Then switch the unit off using Power off button on the front.

Is the process the same in the HLD-X9 machine?
If not can someone detail what it is.

Thanks.

Good point - was there a shipping screw included with the HLD-X9?
Not all players have them.

For example the other players I mentioned above do not require shipping screws.
The shutdown procedure I mentioned will "lock" the transport in place instead.

There came no shipping screw with my X9.
Also, when you power the unit off using the remote, it doesn't really make any "special" noise.
So my guess would be that the Laser is going into parking position by default, any time no disc is present.
Is that possible?
Pure guessing, not knowing.

I have also never seen a shipping screw with an X9.

It is the same mechanical as in the CLD-D704/79/99/S9 etc so all you need to do is hit the power button on either the remote or unit and wait for the unit to stop blinking OFF and then it is ready to unplug.

Some older machines required you to close the tray before hitting the power button as they would power off with it extended. These newer players will close the tray is you press off.

You may also be thinking of Units like the DVL-909E where you do have to hit OFF on the remote and wait till OFF goes off the screen and then hit the OFF on the unit as that button actually goes to a relay to cut power. The S9/X9/D704/79/99 and post mid 1980 US consumer players the power button on the unit is just a button to send a signal to power off.
