Does anyone know if there is currently a source for PIONEER IU-04 interface
units (or other compatible ones)?

My company is selling a set of MS-DOS device drivers for controlling
videodisc players with a common set of commands, and our customers who
have older players want these units.

Also, if you have an IU-04 which you wish to sell, please email me.

Thanks in advance,

I suspect it's for the I/O port found on the LD-700 through CLD-909 and LD-V2000. But they didn't take a picture of the back of the unit. Grr.

Is this part of the system used in that one bond movie? I remember it was all white.

I don't get what this is for exactly though. You didn't need any sort of intermediate box to hook 80s era pro players to 80s era PCs. They both have serial ports.

Maybe it has controller inputs on it?

EDIT: maybe some kind of video mixer/selector/genlock?

there are now rear pictures.

I don't know about the bond movie but this seems to work with players that have a hard time interfacing with computers. I only got that from the above usenet post. information seems to be scarce even for pictures of this.

Yup, that's the mid-80's I/O port. Which does carry a composite signal, and except for the S1 even has raw RF from the disk. Those players usually didn't have conventional serial output.

The LD V4000 and 6000 had more regular ports (The 6000A and later probably this serial interface), but the mainline players and the V2000 did not. The 2200 and 8000 were the first to have the 'standard' interface used through the DVD-V7xxx.

It arrived and looks great and powers on. Does anyone know some of the cables that are used? like the RGB Computer port and I guess a DIN plug or whatever was for the old keyboards which is what it looks like (the round one)

was looking at the manual and it seems to be more or less paired with a SEED monitor ecosystem so not sure if I can actually use this with other devices.
