That's a really lousy packing job. If it was an ebay purchase, you can get your money back easy enough. If you paid by Paypal, same thing. If the seller ignores you, go with a claim. If you want to keep it for parts, make a deal. But it's a 501, so maybe not.
If it was shipped UPS or Fedex, you can tell the seller to file a damage claim. UPS or Fedex will pick up the player and return it no cost to you, even if they decide to not pay off. If it was cheap enough, sometimes they don't even pick it up. Againm, if the seller ignores you, you can callUPS or Fedex, and strat the claim. If USPS, that's trouble.
If you paid in other ways but with credit card, you can get the charges reversed. I've even heard of people who paid by check or money order having success filing a mail fraud complaint. (Because they were sold a working player that arrived as non-working)
My LD and CED players have an over 90 percent success rate being in good shape upon delivery, and the other ones that don't are packed so well, there is no problem with payout claims.

Your store sounds fantastic for buying decent players. In the UK there really is nowhere to actually source LD players except for Ebay or importing them from elsewhere. Every single laserdisc player I ever bought came from mainland UK and since I live in Northern Ireland they have all had to be shipped. The next best source is probably France although shipping is far more expensive and sometimes parcels have arrived rather poorly packaged from there so I've never risked it to date. Out of curiosity do you do international shipping and if so how much would a CED player cost to get shipped to N. Ireland?

I am cooking, sort of. I am marinating the ribs and chicken right now. I'll be on the charcoal grill tomorrow. I just got done with braising 6 pork loin roasts with small whole white onions. I'll finish that off in the oven tomorrow, then make up the gravy and mashed potatoes. Fortunately, my wife is doing the spiral ham, and her mom makes the pancit (Filipino Chow Mein) and filipino menudo, which is a sort of stew. I'm sure I'll also get stuck with whipping up the string beans and yams, as usual.
In between all this, I go to the PC to have some fun. That is until the MTM and Bob Newhart shows come on, which is right now.
Sorry, totally off topic!
