Been watching these for a while, the seems to be very poplar in Japan, always around 20k-30k yen, (300-400 dollar). Does anyone know wich model its based on ? Does anyone have this player ? http://www.kogerer.ru/subj/pic/h9.jpg

Fancy comb filter (will look slightly better on HDTVs)
Digital Out (ie: no demodulator needed)
I'm almost 100% sure you still need a demodulator, as the Dolby Digital output will just be for DVD's. And I would also not bet on the fact that the "fancy" comb filter in this unit is any good.

I mean the DVL-H9 is the best COMBI player! Never compared it with a LD only deck but I'm sure model DVL-H9 is the one best combi to own. It's a beautiful player to own. I own 2 dvl-919E units and they can not touch the PQ of the H9. sure they have THE LOOK I believe dvl-909 - 919 series are overrated PQ wise... they look great... that's about it. Display , scaler, cables etc... can have different results however.... I'm sure if proper calibrated any player can display a decent picture. These days with all built in scaler equipment in receivers ,displays and such a "high end" LD player just isn't worth the money! If a player outputs a decent composite signal you can achieve a great analoge laserdisc picture regardless of the player. I think most of us seem to forget we got spoiled the last few years with HD 1080p Myself I've tried to get the best of every player I own. It's obvious ... It doesn't get any better for LD's enjoy the format in the best possible way for you...

If you ask me the H9 looks better =)
