Does anyone have user and/or repair manuals for the Pioneer VP-1000 they would be willing to upload?

I just recieved one in the mail that was working when it was shipped...and now it does not spin up. I press play and hear a clicking noise several times before the door pops open. Player is trying to work, but I'm guessing something is misaligned. Seller shipped w/o the shipping screw.

I googled for any manuals and got only results for sites trying to sell me a copy.

Also...I am about to be the owner of a Magnavision VH-8005. If anyone has manuals for the VH-8000 or VH-8005 I would greatly appreciate someone posting those as well.

Is there perhaps a shipping screw still in place? Many top-load LD players from Pioneer had a little hole near the center spindle on the right, and slightly to the back, where a screw could be placed to hold the laser assembly in place during shippng.

If not that, maybe the assembly is off track or something and is trying to move.

The seller shipped it without the shipping screw. I have no experience opening and/or fixing LD players. I am willing to give it a try...but without knowing anything about what I am looking at...I am a little reluctant at this time. I wanted to find what to look for first. I have searched for any manuals-even owner's manuals if nothing else. There aren't any videos of VP-1000 being opened up on youtube either.

Hey Rixrex...you you recognize my username from cedmagic message boards? We had been speaking about a Betamax a few months ago. :)

Well, since there was no ship screw, the laser assembly could have slid down track and maybe even off track and that's what's causing the noise, as it tries to move back into position near the spindle. I had one that did that just in normal transporting from one house to another without the screw. Those are the kind of players where you are going to have to look inside on your own and figure it out, or a pal who's more adept at electronics. It would be tough to find a tech who knows those any more.

If it looks hopeless, I'd return it for refund because the shipping screw is an important part of the packing process, and there should be a label making it obvious.

Check this Sylvania one out.

Might be a good one to get if you can be sure the shipping screw and bracket is put in place properly. Or maybe it's still in place from the factory? Have the seller check.

And at least it will ship in original box and packing, that's a good thing.
