Hi All, really excited today as ive just watched T3 - rise of the machines on my newest laserdisc player. I have been looking to get one of the better players to complement my CLD-925 and my brace of CLD-909's I was lucky enough to get a CLD-79 Elite. It arrived on friday, really well packed and in beautiful condition. it came without a power convertor/transformer but i already had one of those spare and also without the remote. it works perfectly with the remote from my 925 so no probs there. although one could get up off the sofa and push some buttons if one so wished I ran it up and its superb, great picture and great sound, so im a happy bunny!!! does anyone else use this model player? how far up the ratings is it against other players? just interested to know. should i still lust after something better so i now run the 925 for my PAL discs and run NTSC in the Elite. I run both through a ONKYO AV amp to an HDMI projector... this upscales them and they look superb. cheers all. boy its been a long time since i had the "new laserdic player" buzz |

I used to have this player. It's basically a CLD-D704 with an Elite faceplate, so it's one of the "Above Average" players out there. It definitely kicked the a** of any player that I had before it. |

Agreed it is on of the players with a sharper picture. It is the Elite CLD-99 without the 3D adaptive filter. If you ever want to adjust the DNR you will need the remote from the CLD-79/99, LD-S9 or HLD-X0/X9 to get the proper buttons. Some other remotes allow like the CLD-D703/704 remote allow you to scroll thru the memory selections but they cannot customize the memory settings. |

The 79 looks fine, but IMO the esthetics of the 79 are nothing compared to the beautiful CLD-97 and CLD-99. Just curious. |
