I just came across a pioneer CLD-D701 in mint condition with instruction manual. Also included was
the original remote with backlight perfectly working. I just tested it and it really blows my mind away.
The picture quality is really good and the machine is quick as hell when swapping sides and at start up.

Now let me hear your opinion about this beast ;)

Never used it, but it is 3 models removed from the touted CLD-D704. So I'm guessing it has a decent picture for its time.

These are decent players, better than the newer CLD-D40X/50X/60X series. Not quite as sharp and dynamic as the 704 but lower background noise.

The type of turn mechanism in these is a little more problematic to have some issues if white silicon grease is not properly lubricating the guide rail.

If the price is right, enjoy it.

Don't know much about the 701 but my first player was a 702 and the picture quality was very good. A real rock solid player. The only reason I went to a 704 was to get AC-3 along with the digital connection.

I guess the downside with this player is the missing of ac-3 output, and I dont have the skills
to add that :P

That is the drawback of the older players. I charge $150 due to the labor time it takes to install, not sure what Duncan charges at Bayview electronics. Makes it worth just spending more for the CLD-D704.
