I have a Panasonic LX-H680 that went on me a while back. The tray stopped mid-close, and it seems like something internally is not longer working either. I've been looking at finding another one, or one that I could buy and use for parts on my machine, as the exterior of it looks brand new. I'm finding a few here and there, but most are a tad expensive when you start to include shipping. A friend of mine suggested I might be able to buy a much cheaper LX-H670 as a possibility as a parts machine if it's just things like belts and gears/mechanical issues. Can anyone confirm if this might be an applicable solution?

Both players are essentially the same with the exception of the 680 having an AC3-RF output added for Dolby Digital. Thus, you can use either for parts.

However, before you do it, just open it up and see what you can find. It might be something as simple as a stretched belt or dried lubrication which is the problem of many LD players after two plus decades of use.
