All of my LD Players are from the trusted Pioneer brand, as they put the most effort into this fine format. I beleive that if it wasn't for Pioneer then the Laserdisc format would have died around 1990. The other thing of note is that THETA and McKintosh used Pioneer units in their own LD players, of which sold for a considerable far higher price, and for only a very very minor improvement in picture. Pioneer rule in my books. Regards to all

Regards to all I once bought a Data II after once reading that it was supposed to be a CLD-97 under the hood (while it's common knowledge that the Data III is a CLD-99 under the hood.) I opened it up and took some pictures of the innards and sent them to Duncan at Bayview Electronics. He wasn't quite sure what to make of it. He said some of the parts and assembly look like a Phillips player while others looked Sony. I ended up reselling it, because the LD playback was pretty good, but not great (my then player, CLD-79, still looked better), so I ended up reselling it for a nice profit. That being said, anyone know what's under the hood of the monstrosity that is the Theta Voyager DVD/LD Transport?

I am Sure I read the article in the ''WIDESCREEN REVIEW'' when Theta's Voyager's player came out, that inside they noticed that the main guts were Pioneer. I should have kept this artical as it was very interesting, however I do not like hoarding magazines, and try to keep things as uncluttered as I can. Regards to all

My latest laserdisc player is a MSB Technology LS1 Laser Disc Transport. AC-3 was included or added later by MSB. Any info on this player would be appreciated. Quietest laserdisc player I know of.

Is the MSB LS-1 the 5th picture down on the left on this page? MSB HistoryIf so, that looks kind of like the Runco LJR-II. Since it's called a "transport" it's probably the Runco LJR-II without the D/A convertor. Which would lead me to believe it's a Panasonic LX-900u under the hood with some adjustments.
