Is this a steal? I'm sure the player isn't a high end model but for a mid-level or low end player a 10 dollar player seems good. Sucks it doesn't auto-flip but what can you expect in 1986? This is not me in the video. Just a random youtuber I found talking about laserdiscs.

Any player can be a steal if it's cheap and in good working order (if broken and free, it can be a fun project to see if it could be fixed and then feel a sense of accomplishment).

Anyway, I was recently gifted a perfectly working Mitsubishi M-V7057 (704 clone) w/ the original remote. Didn't know the guy and I think he really just wanted a good home for his player. You can't really beat a deal like that. 8-)

I like the CLD-909 a lot. Super cool lights on the front and eject mechanism. Probably mid-range+ for 1986.

I missed that part in the video .

I always thought the CD mechanism was cool in this unit in regards to the separate spindle that folds down. I probably would pay $10 to have that in my collection.

Here is a link on how that mechanism works if anyone was interested (CLD-7 was the Japanese version of this player)....

Very cool GIF!

I serviced one of these once. It requires some weird jigs. A good chunk of info on it is in Repair Guide for Laser Vision Players (GGF-613).

If memory serves me correct, the front is mostly metal. The gold plated jacks for CD/LD DA is a nice touch. The CLD-99S had the same, but it was dropped on the CLD-3030.

Some sleuthing shows the MSRP was likely $790.
