Post subject:  Laserdisc Player DIY alignment service

I have a Pioneer Reference Disc (2001) [GGV1069], that is used for alignments of laser disc players, in order to be able to do this myself, beside the disc I need a scope, service manual (for specific LD player) and a service remote. My question is this:
what is the correct service remote for LD players? remote GGF-1067?

If you open the case to the player you can get into test mode by shorting 2 pins on the board. Once you're in test mode you can use the regular remote.

At 17:00 it describes this process in detail along with what the buttons on the remote correspond to in test mode. Each player is different however so this may not work for you but I'm assuming it will.

The actual test remote may have even more functions but this will get you most of the way.

Have fun!

That is one way, I've heard about another to access the test mode with a 3070 but don't have mine out of the box yet.
Just playing the 503 and S1. I believe it has something to do with the door that drops down??

Yes there is a way to enter service mode without the remote, the service manual will tell you how to do it. It is not the same for all units.
