I recently took a gamble on eBay for a Enlightened Audio Designs T8000 transport. The seller listed it as-is since they could not get the unit to read discs so, it was cheap. Since I already have a EAD TheaterVision, I thought it may be worth the gamble for the price. If nothing else, it would be nice to have the two together. When I received it, it worked 100%. I can only assume that the seller tried a DVD, and thought it was junk when it didn’t work.

As an interesting note, I can confirm through EAD’s sales brochure that the unit is based on a CLD-702. However, EAD also states that the upgraded the video chain. Now I have to wonder what the upgrades were. The video is far superior to my TheaterVision, which is an upgraded CLD-99. Anyone have thoughts on what to look for when taking off the cover?

From little I know they usually upgrade caps, the power supply and some other possible chips?
I've seen one player that they basically took the top off dropped it into the new casing and put all the components on the side.
Please post pictures so we can see it, these expensive players were hardly ever opened and I know Ty/Disclord always knew about these players
but never had many or any to compare and show others.

Maybe I can try to upload some pictures shortly after I am allowed to "work" from home due to the recent COVID-19.

As promised, I uploaded a picture I just took. It is a CLD-D760 inside. But the power supply assembly is VWR1198 which might be sourced from a CLD-D701 for 120V use only.

Odd that they would go with an older model player as the base for their own successive model.

Unless, did the T7000 come out AFTER the T8000?

The earliest mention of the T7000 I can find is from 1992 based on a Google Books search but the article is not available so I am unable to confirm. The T7000 is a CDV400 correct? If so, that checks out since it was manufactured in 1992.

The latest manufactured CLD-D702 I could find is January 1994 with the earliest being February 1993.

No, the T7000 is supposed to be a CLD-99 under the hood.

The fancied up CDV-400 is the Theta Data II, I believe.

It is not a Pioneer based on pbiancardi's video:

I'm wondering why they left the RF in/out on the back.

That is a cdv-400 for sure.

Ead made a few different LD players. I believe there was one based on cld-97 another based on cld-99. Those are the ones to look for.

Could anyone help me out with a schematic or service manual for an EAD T8000? I'm in dire need and would love some help.

You can probably use the CLD-D702 service manual for most of it: https://manuals.lddb.com/LD_Players/Pio ... /CLD-D702/
