I have noted several differences (see below and / or video here - https://youtu.be/isSiNiHlONs )-

1. Different color front panels.
2. Several areas of apparent dampening materials added to Runco.
3. Runco has their own video taps off of the board.
4. Addition of a signal transformer presumably for the Runco audio upgrades.
5. Addition of coax audio out and AC3 on Runco.
6. Addition of some unknown to me blue part on the video board by Runco.
7. Addition of dual sided tape to Runco cover as well as adhesive top of flipping mechanism.
8. Addition of some unknown to me white wire and resistor to video board by Runco.

I assume some of this is what they did to correct the APL and picture cut off issues the 900 has...

Interesting, thank you for sharing.
Wonder what that trim pot would do?

I guess the extra transformer is either added or replacing an original to improve somewhere else in the signal.

The next question I have is do the Quasar and Denon clones of Panasonic have any of these changes? Was Runco actually using a Quasar that already fixed the issues?

That first pic with the parts soldered and hot glued in place are not stock in any player and added by Runco.

They wouldn't be in any of the other players unless someone knew what the parts were and added them.
That's how I would add parts on a board if the board was broken or had been repaired too many times, hot glue or even silicon glue to keep away from other parts.

I thought people theorized that maybe Runco was building there's based of off Quasar and not Panasonic? So maybe possible that the changes were already added by Quasar? I guess that doesn't seem likely since its all hand work. I know someone with a Quasar and asked him to check it out.

It's possible that they could have based the Runco off of the Denon LA-3500 as well. Seeing as how Denon put their own D/A circuitry in the LX-900 rather than Panasonic's stock D/A converter.

The only way those extra parts would have been added on a stock player is if they did some type of revision on first run players that would have had board changes later on.

Runco had MSB perform the video mods to the LX-900U. MSB also had their own version. I cannot remember if the audiophile audio sections were designed by MSB, Runco, or someone else.
