I am really new to Laserdiscs, I just started getting into them a couple months ago. I started with a Pioneer CLD-770 that I bought from a thrift store for $65. I'm pretty sure it's from Japan, cause the back of the player, remote and manual is all in Japanese. It works great for me, I like not having to flip disks.

I also have a CLD-1030 that I have maybe tested 3 times. It doesn't flip the disks and I was comparing a movie on it. Seemed like it didn't have as crisp of an image as the 770 does.

I also just ran into a CLD-3070 at a junk store....the guy was asking $20 for it and said it worked. But he also said he didn't have any discs to test it with

I am really happy with my 770 and love digging into my expanding collection to watch. Just wonder if I am missing something with the 3070 available.

if the player works and is only 20 and you can afford it, I would get it just to have the second machine.

As far as I know the CLD-770 is a Japanese market CLD-3070. Should only have power supply differences. Pioneer did make an improvement in sharpness going from the XX30 to XX70 series units.
