I suppose I feel less bad now about acquiring my 13th player as of yesterday.
If anyone recalls from about a month ago, I posted about this machine in the Buy/Sell section that was going for $45 in the SF Bay Area
I went back to the shop thinking it was already gone but low and behold it was still there on the shelf. I asked a clerk to see about testing it and immediately it had the usual symptoms of a stretched belt. I asked him if he would let it go for a tad less but then started to say he couldn’t sell it now because of the issue and was going to have it scrapped (what!!!). Anyway, after more conversing, I changed his mind but still wanted to see if I could talk him down. He let it go for $40 and recommended that I get a belt to fix the issue
. So I was thinking to myself as I left the shop; if you knew it was a bad belt, why would you even consider scrapping it.Anyway, I saved a good working machine from what would have been an untimely death (unless he was bluffing about it) but now I need to figure what do with it after I replace the belt.
