Hello, everyone. I have a Panasonic LX-200U LD Player. Is this a good one, a bad one, or is it simply in between, in terms of build quality and overall performance?

I'm not familiar with that particular model, but as someone who has gone down the dark path of trading up and hunting down players, the question to ask is: Are you happy with the player? If you're happy, then that's better than any affirmation we can give regarding the player's quality.

The only features it seems to be lacking are AC-3 output for Dolby Digital discs (but it does have optical out for DTS) and digital memory for multi-speed playback with CLV discs.

Going by the year it was made, I'm surmising it's a step down or two from Panasonic USA's top of the line at the time, LX-1000u (which is a decent player.) If digital frame memory isn't all that important to you, then it's worth a shot.

Of course, the biggest downfall for ALL Panasonic LD players is the fact that parts are no longer available. So keep that in mind.

Reminds me, I should get another LX-900u for parts for my current LX-900u.

You can get many parts for an LX900u from other Panny models that used the same framework, meaning the 2cnd gen dual-side players made after the LX1000u.
