went through my 8" LaserDiscs and found some test discs.

there's one from Pioneer called GGV 1069 for NTSC

Pioneer Service Network Corporation GGV 1069

haven't found an entry in the database.

GGV 1011 Pioneer GGV PAL Refeence Disc 8Inch CAV

GGV 1010 Pioneer Reference Disc NTSC

and an obscure Phillips 8" PAL Test Disc.

number printed on the Label 4822 397 30118

disc is double the thickness as 8" disc are and diameter is slighly bigger than 8"

very strange

I guess the higher the GGV number is the newer the disc is?

As far as I know.

GGV1069 (https://www.domesday86.com/?page_id=3176z) is pretty much the standard service disc for NTSC players since you could still buy them in North America until a few months ago, but I use the older ones interchangeably as well.

I have various revisions of the NTSC 8" GGV, but I'd love to have a PAL one.

Thanks for the info.

I do notice that there is a little video noise visible on those discs.
The Video Essentials LD has much less.

Vertical bar pattern (i.e.) 114, 115, 116 of GGV1069 should have no noise.
