I got a copy of the service guide to the x090 the other day, and it turns out the PA5013 demodulation chip handles RF compensation very differently from other players. Instead of using the RF amplifier it has a pin that feeds into the demodulation circuit and changes how it works. Also, the field memory on the 2090/3090 is a bit nerfed - only 512x240. But on the 3090, an 18mhz TBC is used so it may be somewhat sharper in some cases. |

I remember Grasshopper saying something about the 3090 that it was nowhere near the quality of the 3080 and the 80 was a better player. Sorry that's all I remember. |

I have a CLD-2090 clone and it still has smear issues. Not sure if it’s better or worse than a 704 but the smear is still there. Also as note, the 3090 should be the only player with field memory. The 1090 and 2090 do not have it. |
