| Post subject: | LD-S2 NR on BNC |
I recently acquired a LD-S2 and have a question about how the NR works over the BNC connection. In the manual it says the BNC bypasses the OSD. What is not clear to me is whether or not the NR applies to this output as well or if it is devoid of NR. The manual does not mention this. Since the OSD is not visible I cannot confirm the setting of the NR. Pushing the 'Picture' button cycles through the settings but the function is only available on the front panel, not via remote, which makes it hard to evaluate the affect the NR has on the picture. For now, I look at the RCA/Phono output with the OSD, set the NR to off (it defaults on to the Standard setting) then switch to the BNC. Thoughts? Thanks! |

The service manual shows all outputs passing through NR.

Yes, all outputs go through the NR circuit and the default is VideoNR OFF and ChromaNR ON. |

Thanks C++ & Kurtis! In your opinion is it even worth all the hassle or should I just use the normal Video 1 output so I can see the OSD and be happy? Not much, if any, visual difference to me at this point... |

For an older analog TV the BNC does look a little better, going to a digital TV or Computer the digitizing will probably cancel out the BNC advantage. |

Thanks again, I'm going into a processor then an LCD but had planned on maybe putting this in the spare room with the Sony Trinitron CRT. |

Definitely try things out. The only negative is carrying the 62lbs around. I need to get a proper BNC to composite video cable for mine. |
