Hi there,
I need a little help. If someone owns the Pio Elite DVL-90, would he recommend this player ? I have the opportunity to get the player for like 180 Euros (w/o the remote..). What i read in the net wasn´t that good, but also not that bad..I own a CLD-925 (Multinormplayer) and a CLD-S315, would it be an upgrade picturewise to these players ? I`d be happy to get some infos, so thx :-)

The DVL series are based on the CLD-D60X series. So, it should be an improvement from what you have now, but you'd do better getting a CLD-D70X. (I think the CLD-D925 is based on the CLD-D515, but I might be wrong)

The DVL-700/90 (which are the same basic units) do not have component outputs for DVD and they cannot output DTS sound for DVD's. If you want it to do both LD and DVD find a DVL-919E. If you are only looking at LD playback it will not be an improvement over what you have today.

Thanks alot for the help. I have to admit, just by looking at it, it is a nice looking machine and I was tempted to buy it. Well, but if thats the case, that I get no improvement over my existing hardware, and improving the quality of watching LaserDiscs is my aim, then I will stay away from this buy.
So I understand that my CLD-925 equals this ELITE Player, so it´s just the DVD part that makes this player "better"..they didn´t change a thing hardware-wise?

This is OK for LD and DVD, it is just one player for both. Even in it's day there were better separate LD and separate DVD players of better quality. The CLD-D704 is a better LD player and it is not an Elite unit.

I really like mine. That said, I don't have much to compare it to. My other 2 players are a CLD-S104 and a Sony MDP-333 which really never played right. The DVD playback sucks to be honest, but LD's look really nice and it has lots of features for the price. I like having optical and digital audio output, auto-flip and the added video outputs that my S104 lacked. The flip is fast and I found the audio is fantastic.
