Hi i'm looking for my first player for (PAL)and after seeking onto service manual, i have found that the CLD-2600/CLD-1600 (pal only player) have a chip with NTSC/XPAL , i cant found more info on the chip do you think its possible to do a mod with that for add NTSC output ? My original thought was to avoid signal processing for having a better picture quality but it should be really cool to have multi standard on PAL only player

I would suggest looking up similar models that are PAL/NTSC compatible and see if they use that chip. The service manual would show how that pin would be implemented to output NTSC. If that's even what it is...

Yeah, you’d have to see if it’s used anywhere else in the Pioneer catalog and then you’d have to copy whatever support components are needed to actually generate NTSC output, if that’s what it is. LD players are not video games machines. They don’t often have features locked out for no reason so I wouldn’t rate your chances of success as being very high but it may be worth looking into.

I tried to do something similar with an IC pin labeled OEM on a ProScan CLD-2080 clone to get it to work with Pioneer remotes but had no success.

Here is IC101 in the CLD-1090 which should be the US equivalent of the CLD-1600.

The question is quite confusing in a way that the ultimate goal is not well defined. What kind of source you are trying to output as NTSC signal? A PAL video that you hope the machine will convert to NTSC 4.43 so that you could view the color picture on your PAL only CRT TV? Or are you thinking about adding pure NTSC encoded LD playback to this PAL only machine?

Probably to get it to play NTSC discs.... I know that some CLD 1400 and 1500 can be modded that could get them to play NTSC discs. But that was due to some of them sharing parts with the PAL/NTSC 1450. Haven't heard there being a similar case with the CLD 1600 or 2600 though.
