Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow and not look like this: Enjoy unpacking it, getting it up & running & spinning a big silver disc, you lucky jammy.... What are you planning to be your first disc played on it? Seriously LD bud a few miles over some water hope it lives up to your expectation - enjoy

Here's the shipping packaging, still sealed. It definitely looks and feels bulletproof. Hope it's the same story on the inside. I used Zenmarket to help me get it here and also paid extra for reinforced packing. It shipped by boat in mid-October and landed in New Delaware in mid-January. Pretty much bang on time for sea mail. I noticed as well that the port of disembarkment was Southampton, UK so it didn't come to New Delaware directly. Royal Mail took on the logistics from Southampton before handing over to An Post once it landed in New Delaware, possibly by air (tracking doesn't say). Not bad going considering all the far more important problems the world is facing right now, not to mention Brexit delays and all the rest of it. Only the second time I've used sea mail from Japan. Possibly not the last.

You do indeed, though they offer credit lines to regular customers. You need to clear your credit before you can request a parcel and so on of course. There are strict time limits on that as well, which is more than fair enough. Personally I'm of the opinion that if you don't have it then don't spend it. All a CC is good for imho is a degree of purchase insurance and credit score maintenance. Credit is a dangerous thing, again imho. The way I was taught young I guess. If it works for someone else that's none of my business and good luck to them. The Zenmarket 'credit' is good though for bidding or purchasing before depositing the funds. Example being depositing funds to cover an auction you don't end up winning, then you have to forex twice and so on, costing you money. I recall someone here had an issue with Zenmarket recently. I've personally never had a problem with them. They even helped me recently with the NKOTMFB LD's by contacting the seller for me when I missed the auction deadline and sorted everything out for me. Of course this LD parcel is still sealed, it could be bricks or a total mess inside. Hopefully not.

Yeah I remember reading someone too about zen, I never used them but really can't use any of them now as I don't have the disposable funds for LD anymore. Maybe in the future but my last anime disc haul tapped me and I'm starting to rethink this whole LD collection, even though I've had it for a very very long time. Get ready for lots on ebay soon

She's unboxed. Never seen double boxing quite like it. Amazing job. Cosmetically everything looks perfect. Time to power it up somewhere and test it before putting it under the TV. Fingers crossed...

There was a slightly hairy moment when I carried the step down transformer over it and wondered if the carry handle might break and then land on it. Shoved it on the kitchen table. Hooked up the step down. Prayed. Poo came out. Prayed again. Powered it on. It's alive!! It's alive!! (Sorry too many Universal Monsters Blu Ray's recently). Shoved in a Tom Selleck film, Folks!, to test it and the remote control out. Poo was literally gushing from my gusset at this stage. Recall the scene in Disney's Prince Of Egypt and the parting of the sea? Yeah... Anyway, pleased to report she powers on. Flips from A to B. All the buttons.work and the jog wheel. All seems to be good. Now for the final.test, hooking it up to the DVDO Edge and seeing if it's been knocked about so hard it displays nothing, or, if I get the pictures via SVideo that you lot seem to love!

I'm not suggesting you touch anything yet but experiment with the 3D filter strength setting a bit and try backing of the chroma and luminance NR controls and you may find there's more to come yet although just sit back and enjoy the experience for now

I'm presently watching Genesis Invisible Touch Tour at Wembley. Knowing it's a good disc on my CLD-D925 so there was a benchmark there to see if thing got bashed around during the long journey to New Delaware, as well as the domestic journey in Japan. The second you enable that D-Ext setting and pootle around with the comb filter settings, it's like a magical symphony. It's very erotic, as Gerald Lambeau would say. Phil's hair was absolutely tremendous in pauper composite. Crank up the dial to SVideo and that DExt thing and his hair reaches utterly cataclysmic proportions of epicness. His buxom locks are quickly accelerated to heights other concert Laserdiscs DARE NOT even try to compete with. Biblical stuff. What a machine. Edit: But Seriously... (pun intended) that haircut is just off the scale. This R7G has literally blown my mind. I thought the step up would be noticeable but not to this level, and I consider my 925 to be great at what it does already but this is off the charts. That D Ext thing, Jaysus...

Do you happen to have a copy of The Fifth Element in your collection Ted, that looks truly amazing on the R7G, if that had been released in squeezed format on LD it would arguably have eclipsed the DVD for PQ as the letterboxed version is really that good. Enjoy rediscovering your NTSC discs Btw, the 925 can still look stunning on well mastered PAL material of which I still have plenty, but yes there's an absolute gulf when it comes to NTSC compared to a machine of the 7Gs calibre.
