How do you mean 'converted?'

You have to have a 909 with the proper firmware for this to work. Not all will operate as a DVL-91 after you change the resistors.

What happens is you change a couple resistors that send voltage bias levels to the control processor behind the front face. If the processor is encoded with the DVL-91 options then when you turn on the 909 the processor thinks it is a DVL-91 so it has all the 91 options like LD Variable noise reduction, DVD DTS output. It does not change the picture other than giving you the noise reduction.

After not using my 909 (or any other of my other two pioneer players) for the last few years I rigged up my 909, now all is good but it wont play PAL discs as they just spin and go back to stop. (didnt remember then not playing PAL) Google was my friend and a thread here so I take it my machine has the mod to enable DVD DTS output but at the expense of playing PAL LD's....

I will put a dvd in and concur but I think it must be the case as Jaws Pal plays fine on my 515.

Plus I have the US remote with A/B switchover which I thought was odd

LD's been on all week this week!!! what have I been doing hiding them away :D

I modified a 909 with a switch and wires going to the resistors. The person would power if off, he had an European import so it had the complete power off switch verses standby button on US models, flip the switch I added to the 91 or 909 position and then power back on. The processor would read the bias resistor settings at power on and operate in that mode until powered off again. If you just have the standby power button then you would have to unplug the player to switch 91/909 modes.
