Hey everyone,

I'm interested in owning a working PR-7820. Looks like there hasn't been any real activity of one on ebay lately; except for an estate sale/no-warranty/local-pickup unit that nobody has jumped on. I've done a bit of searching on the forums and it looks like the biggest issues are that rubber clamp and the carriage wires.

In any case, a mostly working (i.e. powers on and spins, but doesn't have to spin well) unit is something I'd also be interested in. I looked at the manuals available here and I do have the equipment to perform the alignment except the specific test disc. Which test disc is needed and what is the value/how hard is it to find this disc?

If anyone has something they're interested in selling working or non-working for these units let me know.

Good luck!

I have nothing else to add.

Yes, it seems like they are a lot harder to find than they were 10 years ago. I'm guessing most are not working and then got pitched/recycled.

Disc is whatever B1 (A2) is and it is probably impossible to find. I'd just use a 12" CAV disc.

I sold a super mint one in a shipping case, I sent pics to the UK laserdisc player site back when I had it.
Never thought I would sell it but I did, when I sold it I think I got 200 + Shipping, shipping was if I remember right around 80 bucks
since it was super heavy it had to go fedex.

I doubt they are higher unless an arcade person needs it, but this was back around 2009-10 and arcade stuff was at its peak then.

Yeah, I was thinking a working unit could be anywhere from $100-$200 depending on cosmetics. And yes, good point, the PR-7820 is (was?) popular with Dragon's Lair arcade crowd.

I thought there was another one that could be substituted for the 7820 but don't know now, and I never was into the LD games, just too boring for me.

Same here, they look cool but are hard and boring to play.

In Dragon's Lair, the PR-7820 can be swapped out with a LD-V1000. Older boards might require some mods and updated eproms, but that's not terribly difficult to come by.

The PR-7820 is practically required for the early GM discs to play correctly. It will NOT play most discs from the 90s because mastering plants dropped the MCA code carrier from the disc.

The rubber clamp is notorious for turning to goo. I can make replacements if anyone needs one.
