Post subject:  Unusual Different - Sanyo LV-K77 Laserdisc Karaoke System
Picked this up for very cheap - no manuals no info - much be rare - all in one Karaoke machine with Cassette, Laserdisc, CD - Circa 1992? Sanyo..

For the Record its a Sanyo LV-K77 Model
Im betting nobody has seen or heard of or knows of this machine ?!

Does the Laserdisc work..sadly no....disc loads and is recognised - Hear ticking squealing as if the laser is trying to focus/search but PLAY onscreen turns into STOP and it spits the Laserdisc back out...

Has a 'JET TURN' ..play both sides function.

Found a Owners but no Service Manual.

Only Sanyo player I could find some other info on is a LV-P500 ..

This unit is is literally a normal stand alone player put into unit..with a custom front plate and connectors.

Sound is good bass is very good..using with bluetooth input...cassette works well actually lol

my thoughts..its ugly...sounds good...but pity the Laserdisc is not working.!

Sounds like it could just need a new load belt.

Yeah...Will try to disassemble have a look...its going to be challenge as it has an umbilical set of leads coming out of it to a main board to function.!

So far
It does recognise LD - LD light comes on
It sounds like its spinning up - then stops.

Interestingly it does NOT recognise CD's at all. hmmmm ?!

Seems to try - moves along the disc from center for a small distance then gives up...

It does spin up so maybe it's not a load belt issue after all.

Shame - looks in perfect condition other than the fact it does not work 8-)

The laser optical block - does it look familiar to anyone? Wondering if Sanyo used a known brand for their player other than their own.

Anyone like to hazard a guess as to what's happening here when I try and play a CD - see Video ! Note you need to listen with volume up.

I can't tell if there is something wrong with the gears or servos.

Check for any missing teeth or other defects on the gears on the pickup itself.

The picture of the laser. Is that the flash reflecting on the lens or does it need to be cleaned?

It does seem to be very cloudy looking but hard to really tell. I guess a cotton swap w/ a pinch of water is a good next step. ;)

Yeah Im not sure - had another look today..tried a few more CD's ...it does not recognise that a CD is there at all...just more of the same behaviour as in the Video.

Removed the Pickup today and had a look..the unit is in really new looking condition...not much wear I can see on any gears..

Yeah its clean - used just water and a cotton swab/bud...I think its reflection as the picture was taken with lights on.. will take another picture in daylight maybe tomorrow to compare.

Yeah it does kinda cloudy..not sure as I have nothing to compare it with...but I did take the pictures with lights on...the lens is clean and been cleaned with water on cotton bud/swab..but no better result unfortunately!

Here are a few Pictures of the Sanyo Laserdisc Optical Block Assembly - removed from machine

Imbetween the circuit board the model number of the Block can be seen cast in the aluminium frame it is:

SFL-90

....had a search and it is xtremely rare ! Unobtanium!

Still unsure sure why the unit cannot identify a CD but can an LD... unit looks in almost new condition other than it does not work!

As said I think these are very rare - more likely some still in use in Japan however.. my chances of coming across another ..pretty slim.

Found a parts list and Owners Manual..but no Service Manual.

As many have mentioned in the past, this could be a CD centering issue. And if bad enough, could explain why it won’t play the LD at all.

The lens still doesn't look correct on the inner side. It should be a clear focusing lens. Would you put that on a camera?
