Hello, so my Panasonic LX 101 remote stopped working. It looks like slight corrosion might’ve happened, I tried cleaning it the best I could and put in new batteries but it didn’t work. I was wondering if anyone knew of a third party replacement remote that would work with it that has all the features of the original one or if I have to buy a first part one (if that would even work)?

I assume you mean you cleaned the contacts?

Sometimes you might have enough build up that insulates the contacts so I would double check it again and possibly use an x-acto knife to pick @ any remaining residue. Also, after you are done, check it with a digital camera that will allow you to see if the infrared light flashes when you aim the remote into the lens.

If that doesn't work, you might just have a cold solder joint inside that can be reflowed or maybe you have a bad IR transmitter that can be replaced. So by all means, don't dump the remote because even if you can't fix it now you might be able to fix it someday.

As for a generic replacement remote, older universal remotes from the 90's would have the codes as well as modern day universal remotes from Logitec.

Anytime I see corrosion in remotes I disassemble them and neutralize it with vinegar.
