Post subject:  [CLD-2850] AC-3 RF output

Hi folks,

I have a 2850 player that has been kept for some years. Changed house twice and only now I can use it again.

To be honest I will not use it a lot even if I have around 200 films on LD. After all it's a PAL or NTSC output in Blu-ray and UHD times.
But I will try to install the AC-3 output and buy an RF to DD conversor to send the signal to a "modern" amplifier.
All this, if the price is affordable.
I'm aware that one day the 2850 player dies... I keep the LD's for memory.
before I would like to preserve on HDD some films never released in other format

So:
- Does anyone have the kit for the 2850 for sale? - Where to find it?
- suggestions for a demodulator affordable, please.

Thanks in advance to all.
Best regards

How many of your 200 movies have AC-3 sound?

Never counted but not many for sure.

Maybe is not a good move in war times.
Perhaps to buy another player, just in case, is a better option.

If it's does not cost to much...

As Zeta was hinting, you might want to see how many AC3 discs you have to see if it’s going to be worth it.

Otherwise, typical cost of an AC3 board made either by BDE as well as another seller that is offering it up on eBay appears to be in the $70 range. And to get an RF Demodulator, you’re looking at the $250+ range ($150 if you opt for a Processor w/ the Demodulator built in).

Also, I would research if your player does MAL (Mute Active Low) or MAH (Mute Active High) as that will play into what board works for your player. MAH boards are more common and work on all North American & Japanese models; European players are a toss up between both types of boards.

If you can solder, we can help you find the tap points if they are not already posted somewhere.

There are new, assembled boards floating around for I think $30, but they do not support muting. You can build a circuit yourself for cheaper than that though.

Hey! That's me that sells the $30 board. I include everything you need to get it up and running, but as others have indicated, there is no mute signal on my boards. No issues encountered so far, but your mileage may vary.

I am also selling my two Yamaha DDP-1 processors for $100 each. They will handle demodulating the RF signal to something your receiver can interpret.

Where are you located?
