Hi. Just curious how people have their demodulators hooked up. If I were to get one, should I just send the rf output from ld player to demodulator, and use the ld player's optical or coax straight to receiver? I just feel like plugging everything into the demodulator adds an extra step when playing discs without dolby digital. |

I have a lexicon ldd-1 which does automatic switching. Its piority is ac-3. So if it detects ac-3, it routes ac-3 signal to its outputs. If you dont care about pcm and some inputs on your receiver this works well. I currently connected rf out to demodulator and digital coax directly into my video processor. I can choose audio inputs on the same video. |

I think if you put the optical cable to the LDD-1 it would elimnate the need for 3 cables going to the receiver. hook up the rf and optical to the LDD-1 then hook that up to the receiver as well as the anologe cables since not every disc supports digital sound. |

That's what I was considering, but why not just hook optical cable directly to receiver? It seems weird to put an extra component in the way, as well as having the lexicon take optical in, and send it out as coax. |

if you have the open inputs then do that but its nice to have one cable that carries both signals to the receiver. edit out of curosity what components do you have in your setup? |

Doesnt matter optical or coax. Ldd1 willl always output ac3 when detected. I have digital coax directly into video processor, rf plugged into demodulator then digital coax out from demod to video processor. I also have analog interconnects plugged directly onto video processor. I can select one of the 3 on my video pro. It upscales video to 1080p and add appropriate audio to hdmi output which goes to my receiver. |

I will just use it for AC-3 and send the optical straight to receiver. My Marantz has an on screen menu that I use to switch audio inputs. That's should work out great! |
