If you can't get answers I will open it up and reverse engineer it. It should be possible to switch inputs via control port too.

got a reply today. That sure was fast

It reads:

Hi Kris,

Thanks for writing.

You may need to have a custom cable made for your particular setup.

Here is the pin out for the DIN Plug Connector. You would simply need a mini mono plug at the other end, only using the +12 VDC and ground connections for Power On function. Please refer to the pin out configuration on your new amplifier, but usually the tip of the mini jack will be your +12 VDC.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will be glad to assist.

Have a great day.

I am unable to post the drawing of the pinout for some reason, I'm not that patient with computers i'm afraid but it comes down to this...

Pin1 ground
Pin2 ground
Pin3  +12volt DC when Power ON
Pin4 No connection
Pin5 Trigger programmable

I keep mine unplugged. While it is unplugged it will pass through a PCM signal.

I confirm this is working exactly as mentioned in the manual.

NOTE: When power is off, the LDD-1 automatically outputs the COAXial digital input.

The Pioneer RFD-1 or Kenwood DEM9991D have pass-through capability but they need to be powered on to deliver.
