Hello! I just got the Lexicon LDD-1 and its awesome! It locked an AC-3 signal immediately. My reciever displayed Dolby Digital, and I was so excited, which is hilarious considering that I have a ton of blu rays and HD-DVDs and have been listening to their HD audio for years. Anyway, just curious: do you unplug your demodulators when not in use? Does that make for a longer life of the unit? The manual says its fine to leave it plugged in since it draws very little power (probably just enough to keep the two little green lights on). It doesn't seem to get warm either. I just don't know if plugging it in everytime I use it will eventually damage it. Thoughts? |

Good day graz138, I use my Meridian 519 and always turn this off when not in use, my reason is that if anything is left on standby it all cost's money and so I hardly ever leave anything on unless I am going to use the item that same evening. Regards

Using the same Lexicon here in Belgium  I made me an extension cable with a simple toggle switch to turn the unit of. I don't like power running to a device when not in Use. The manual says it's not a problem to leave it on but it was made to be used with a switched lexicon processor. There is a control port present. |

i have the adapter plug in but i unplug it from the LDD-1 itself when not in use |

Thanks for your inputs! I will unplug it when not in use for sure. I have easy access to my surge protector, so I will unplug it there. That makes sense. Is it better to unplug it from the back of the unit or the wall? |

I'd unplug it from the wall. Should allow for longer life for the transformer

There are 5pin din to 3.5mm cables on ebay for a few bucks. Some or most ht recievers have 3.5mm trigger outputs in the back to turn on and off such devices. I wonder if this would work for ldd1. Some surge protectors also have 3.5mm trigger outputs. |

they also used to make surge protector bars that each plug had a switch, they are harder to find. you could just get 2 bar strips, plug the more used stuff into one and the less into the other and switch that one on or off. |

I just purchased this same unit and had the same question about plugging it in. The one thing that lead me to leave it plugged in was about PCM pass-through. I feed both the PCM and AC3 into this unit so I only need 1 digital input into my receiver. When unplugged, does the unit pass-through the PCM audio for Digital Audio and DTS? |

if your receiver has trigger outputs in the back, you can use the command input on the ldd-1. its a 5 pin din but only 2 pins are active. there are 5pin din to 3.5mm jacks out there for $7-15. that way you don't have to keep ldd-1 off all times. when you receiver is on, it will turn on as well. |

I keep mine unplugged. While it is unplugged it will pass through a PCM signal. |
