| Post subject: | A feature of the SDP-E800 Sony digital sound processor. |
About 4 weeks ago, I won the auction on a Sony SDP-E800 digital sound processor off E-bay. ($19.99 + $7.99 shipping). Today, I decided to test the E800 to ensure that all the ports worked. I setup my Sony BR player and took its composite video and line level outputs and connected them to the E800's analog input. I then took the E800's video and line level audio outputs and connected them to my AVR. Well, the video and audio worked great. I then hooked up a fiber cable between the BR player and the E800. I switched the E800 to the digital 3 input and the sound came up along with the video. However, when you switch from digital 2 to digital 3, there is no video only sound. It seems that when the E800 is receiving video on the analog input, it kind of "latches onto it" when you change to the digital 3 input. (FYI The digital 3 input has no video port. I guess it is designed for audio only sources.) This info might be useful if you want to connect a 3rd A/V source to the E800 (i.e. have 3 LD players) and use the digital audio on the 3rd player instead of its analog audio. |
