anyone have or have the ability to retrieve HEX codes for the remote control commands? I only have one source hooked up to it so all I need is "power on" and "power off" discrete commands or worst case "power/standby" if they are available.

If I can't get these codes, another option can be trying codes from other Sony devices which might match. I have a vast database of codes for most Sony products but MUSE decoders. Any suggestion to which device codes should I try?

I have a Harmony 1 that has all the codes manually entered from the remote. I know how to get HEX codes into the remote, but not out. If there is a way, I'd be happy to provide HEX codes to you. I haven't done much in this area, but if you have the remote, you should be able to get some IR hardware and software that reads it?

I don't have the original remote. Santini didn't send one. He won't sell me one. For now all I need is power on and power off but later if I add another MUSE player, I will need input buttons too. Do you know if there is discrete power on and power off buttons? or its just a power toggle?

My user guide shows you the remote control with its functions.
I sorted out the control codes for the MST-2000, by bit-banging the rear-panel "Control-S" jack, but haven't yet bothered to do the 3000/4000. As an advisory, I can tell you that the 2000 model has three "power" commands : discrete on, discrete off, & 'toggle'. The remote control only uses the 'toggle' code. The same is probably true of the 3000/4000.

this is very good to know. Do you think mst-2000 commands would work?
Do you mind sending me the complete HEX codes for discrete on and off and maybe input 1 and 2?

I know the MST-2000 codes do not work for the MSC-3/4000. I think this is because the model ID code is different. The actual command codes should be the same, & you can get them from my MST-2000 guide.

Sorry did anyone capture the remote codes for the MSC-3000 and/or MSC-4000 muse decoders ? Seems like they are not available on Harmony remote. I rather not dump firmware and reverse the protocol if I don't need to.

I ended up buying another msc-4000 (just to get the remote). I can post the codes later but I am in the process of moving from Boston to Los Angeles. Everything is packed up and it will be a while before unpacking.

My move is June and probably another few months before I put together a working setup. I have a 12x15' storage full of electronics that needs to be moved and setup. Cabling and wiring is probably several miles long. My new place is going to be much smaller (Sqft in LA $$$), I will probably list a ton of stuff for sale in the next months.

I wanted to control my MSC-4000 with a homebrew remote control and stumbled on this topic. Despite what was said before I tried the codes for the MST-2000 and was happily surprised they work just fine. Not all buttons exist on both models so what I got working from the MST-2000 document was: Power toggle, power on, power off, Menu, Up, Down, Enter, and Input select. I also played around a bit and found the code for VTR. I gave up trying to find the Lock, Display, and two Audio selection buttons.

So, the codes are:

Toggle power: 0x15
Power on (not on remote): 0x2e
Power off (not on remote): 0x2f
Input select: 0x25
Menu: 0x38
Up: 0x72
Down: 0x72
Enter: 0x76
VTR: 0x51
(Toggles the display of the text "TEST" on the screen -- I have no idea what it does but might be interesting): 0x7f

The device/address is 0xb7.

Maybe someone will find this useful.
