Well, I have one of these, & I've been trying to put it to use. Unfortunately, I don't have a MUSE player! I would be enormously grateful to anyone who would let me bring my discs & test equipment, & use one for an afternoon or so. (I'm in Fort Worth, Texas, but would be willing to drive as far as Houston or Tulsa for the purpose.)

Although I have not yet been able to use all the functions, I have worked out a great deal about it from testing & the Japanese user manual. Instead of translating the whole manual, I decided to make a user's guide — while not quite complete, I expect it to be useful. I have several other manuals, & would be glad to do the same with them.

I also took the cover off & did a quick photo walkthrough of the decoder.

Let me know what you think!

Well, after a couple of days of wrestling with graphics & desktop publishing programmes, I have pretty much finished my MST-2000 User Guide. Really the only things left to settle are a couple of operational details, & four of the remote control codes. One of them has to be the OSD code, two are the audio mode codes (totally irrelevant to Hi-Vision LD playback), & the last one may be some kind of null for all I know.

I'd appreciate any input. Is the layout of the guide convenient, does it appear to be easy to use, which decoder would you like me to do next? I have manuals for the MST-1000, MSC-4000, & HV-MD2, but I'm open to doing others if someone will send me the appropriate manuals.

Looks great.
If you could do something like that for the HV-MD2, that would be super awesome!

And now I know mine works. The fan noise is kind of annoying, though.

That's a big plus the HV-MD2 has.
Noiseless, and it does not have a fan.

You might replace the fan with a quieter model (e.g. Papst). I did this on my Pioneer SP-D07 (Audio decoder). Modding my Pioneer HM-D101 Muse decoder with a silent fan is still in the plans.

Wow, I never even noticed the SP-D07 has a fan at all.

Which reminds me, I need a manual for my SP-D07. Anyone have scans?
I'll have to think about replacing the MST-2000 fan. The fans on the Panasonic TU-AHD100 (one for the case, one for the video processing sub-board) are virtually silent ; unfortunately, mine is on the fritz. Everything else seems to work, but MUSE decoding cuts out after about 20 minutes.

Sorry Publius, when I sold my SP-D07 (May 2009 that was), I also gave all the manuals to the new onwer.
