Can I get this fixed or should I get rid of these Pioneer CSR58O. I can't remember if it was torn when I bought them or if I somehow did it.

I think you can get it fixed but its not really worth it. I would just look for a matching pair of tweeters like that and replace both, could even find the same one on ebay and just replace the one. screw driver and should just unplug or solder the wires back on. very easy to do. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:

I don't know anything about speakers. How do I go about finding a tweeter and what is a tweeter? So I don't need to replace everything so they sound the same? |

The "tweeter" is the loudspeaker for high-frequency sounds (and "mid-range" are for the middle few hundred to few thousand Hz and the "woofer" is for the bottom few hundred.) Usually though, the tweeter is the smallest (and it is usually above the rest), so you might want to google a manual or something for it to confirm which it is and find out the part number. |

There is no fixed place for a tweeter, but you can say, the smallest one is the tweeter, so the damaged unit is a midrange |

yes, sorry about that all you need to do is unscrew and look at the ohm rating on the back 4 or 8 should be it and the wattage. then just check on ebay for the same, or just check ebay for that model number, some will part out good working stuff for people just like you who need to replace the part. if you've ever fixed a lamp you can fix this easily, or easier ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:

Are there any speaker repair places near you? I had a blown tweeter a while back and it only cost me $40 for parts and labor to repair. Unless the speaker is ultra high end or your are in love with the exact sound it produces it shouldn't be too expensive. As suggested by others, it shouldn't be too hard of a DIY either if you can source the tweeter(s) yourself. |

If you're replacing the tweeter then it might be best to do the corresponding one in the other speaker at the same time. Otherwise, replacing the paper cone is usually a fairly easy job once you find a suitable replacement. The satisfaction of repairing it yourself makes it all worth it! |

can you also post your speaker number, obviously the back has no info to find out I know you can hook up the speaker to an ohm meter and just get that same and size. it will be much easier to pickup an after-market pair or a pair from an original parted out set on ebay than fixing this, it will cost about 10 bucks in parts but take way over 2 days for a 20.00 set of 5 inch mid ranges. those speakers total aren't really worth more than 80 bucks and that's on a good day. but they still sound nice, a little more bass than they should have but overall a nice pair of speakers. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:

Pioneer CSR-580 I can barely read the plate but I think its 15 ohms but the midrange on the back says 12 ohms Luckily I have been able to find this in the parts store by using the back number on the midrange. but I am not sure if they actually have any stock. I tried to order a BD remote but had to end up sourcing that through eBay since they didn't have it and the time keep changing when they would get some in. |

should be 16, either 4,8, or 16 is what is available. anyway I did a quick search on ebay before I posted the previous post. found some midrange pairs for around 15 bucks, they look sort of like what you have. just check on ebay for the size and ohm should be close, but others will know more on what will happen if you put a different ohm into the cabinet. I can't remember right now and am too lazy to search, but you can and will find a pair on ebay for around 15-22 with shipping. and they are always marked with a + and - or a red dot, that is the hot and the - or non marked is the ground, just like hooking up to your amp. these look like they would just drop in, but are a little more than I would pay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KENWOOD-MIDRANGE-SPEAKER-KL-777-T-06-PAIR-16-OHM-TESTED-NICE-/310937749084?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item486555865c if you wait there will be more on ebay, but just check it out or check at goodwill for a pair that has a messed up 12 inch woofer and pickup that set cheap and swap etc. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:

Impedances kan be anything... 15 Ohms is possible, so is 12.... Putting in a unit with a lower impedance, will result in the unit playing louder. A not original unit can have the same impedance, but may sound completely different. |

I am certainly an idiot. I had found in a different goodwill the same speakers but with the grill. I kept thinking I would buy but next time I went back the pair was gone. I think I will try finding pioneer one that is close to my model if I can't get the midrange from Pioneer parts. |

somewhat reminiscent of my early 90's CS-G503 4-ways. they benefitted greatly from stuffing the cabinets with fiberglass insulation... ![]()
