I found this Denon AVC3000G amplifier today pretty cheap at a thrift store: I have an older Pioneer receiver that I use downstairs to run the bear den system in the basement. One problem I have is that I have a lot of different video feeds into the system - 2 lds, a DVD and a whole slew of retro game systems. While the Pioneer has a lot of video inputs (7 or 8) that is about half of what I need so I have a couple of switch boxes with stuff plugged in and ganged into the receiver. I am gonna use the Denon as a video switcher (it has eight video inputs) - this will be a lot simpler and I can use the remote to cycle through the inputs to find whatever system I want to use. I did have to order a remote from Ebay for it but I found one at a reasonable price - with free shipping (not really free since I know that is simply rolled into the price). It looked like someone had tested it since there was a tuner and two speakers hooked up to it. When I turned it on I got nothing on one of the channels when I fiddled with the balance control - but I noticed when I put it to the side that was working both speakers were working. So I flipped it around and someone had hooked the speakers up on the left channels of both A and B systems - so I moved the one on B to the right channel of A and voila it was working properly. My guess is that is why the amp was still there - everyone that looked at it likely thought one of the channels was blown. |

The thing weighs a ton. If nothing else it could be a doorstop for the gates to Fort Zinderneuf. |

I have an AVC-1020 which is a little guy compared to these. It's great for stereo but I find it a little too warm and airy for surround. Once I find another old Bretford I want to wall mount it with a turntable. It's great that you got a remote for it. It was a couple years before I found the remote for this one. |
