Probably the Galoob release, they were actually cooler and not so TMNT looking.
All the Playmates had that TMNT look for some reason, even the Wildcats figures.

If you think the Playmates Star Trek figures looked like TMNT, you should see their Dick Tracy line.
They've definitely got that TMNT look going on with the oversized heads and squat poses.

But nah, that is the Playmates one.

finally broke down and attempted the lip detailing. turned out far better than i feared it might.

again, the existing molded details were awfully soft and shallow...

I've yet to see one of these in the flesh! A Video 2000 deck, that is.

With a CLEANING MAINTENANCE CASSETTE to boot  .

A cool find but the CLEANING MAINTENANCE CASSETTE - might be an idea not to pop that one into the player if it is a working unit.

Enjoy.

Cheers

That was a first for me as well. AFAIK, they did distribute them over here back in the day but it must have been a very limited distribution, at best, and so it's quite rare that one can find one of these in the 'wild' here.

It also came together with its Philips service record. Here are a few faults that were attended to on this machine back in the 80's.

I had to source my own figure 8 power cord but the machine is functional.

There is some static/noise in the picture when playing those tapes so the thought did cross my mind to maybe use that cleaning cassette to see if it would improve things. But yeah, probably not a good idea to do so. :P

Those cleaning cassettes are pretty much like using sandpaper on the heads.

I found a fully functioning betamax deck a couple of years back in the recycling center and went through the trouble of opening it and cleaning the heads with a q-tip, only to remember after the whole process that these old things had manual tracking

I must disclose that I am an employee at PetSmart (i will forever call it pets mart since it was that when I was little) and not getting paid for this. Also I hope this allowed as each purchase helps benefit local Children's Charities.

Please Support Children's Charities by buying a unicorn, cat, dog or bunny plushie at PetSmart. I am nearly 37 years old and bought a unicorn because its cute and I wanted it. I also bought 2 others and donated them. I plan to get some more as well.

Wasn't looking to get one of these but it was in great shape and the price tag of 800 ZAR (a little over $50) tempted me to pick it up.

SONY DVP-S9000ES. DVD & SACD Player.

This is a hefty unit. Built very sturdily.

Back in the day (it has to be close to 20 years ago now) this was a top of the range Sony product.

I had at hand my old "collectors series" NTSC version of Cliffhanger, and decided to give it a spin. The progressive scan/480p image out of this player still looks damn fine.
