Truthfully I see what they were going for with that part of the story and it sort of has to be too long for it to work but the end result is just maddening. You end up hating Nadia more too which probably isn’t needed by that point in the series anyway. Once the ending comes it is too quick, if anything. Not boring at all, total Gainax magic, honestly. I've been thinking of trying to get the 3 volumes but hell I can't even find the movie on LD. I guess they're rare or something. I want to complete my LD collection. I do like all of it when I first watched Nadia but the TV company wanted to expand it which was dumb but still the episodes are great if you think they are completely separate.

Just picked up this DVD, Same story of Heat. Very interesting from a real artist Almost scene for scene without the violence as it probably would have been a pilot or made for TV movie. Not available on DVD in the USA that I could find. L.A. Takedown is obviously not the original title as it was added on the film with new CGI. According to imdb other titles could have been Crimewave and Made In L.A.

There’s a lot of Gundam stuff out there. Sometimes it’s embarrassing to the creators, like Cucuruz Doans Island, EP15 of the OG series which is missing from most (all?) US releases of the show. But even then...years later someone wrote a Doans Island manga side story... G Savior probably won’t get its own manga 20 years later (which would be now). It probably also won’t get an MG but you never know. The RX-78 is on its 3.0 run. MGs have been released of The O, Plan 303, and other kits once considered totally impossible. The RE-100 line is basically HG grade 1/100 kits where they pick MS too fringe to make MGs out of which has been a huge success for me and other fans of the obscure, giving us a Dijeh, three versions of the Vigna Ghina, and even the Nightengale. That may be a more realistic hope, a RE-100 version of the G Savior. However my impression of that movie is that it was such an unwelcome flop on every level for everyone that it may be one of those “bad taste” things where they don’t ever want to go back to it ever. I have no proof of that. The Wiki says it was made totally in Canada and never uses the word “Gundam” at any point, or even in the title. It seems to have have very little Japanese staff. Obviously the MS are CG. It took five years to make. Only the Big Bang Project and Bandai badges make it look like it isn’t a bootleg. I’ve never even seen it. Every single thing about it is repellent to most Gundam fans. I wouldn’t hold out hope. 2019 is the 40th anniversary of Gundam making it now twice as old as it was during the Big Bang Project which gave us G Savior and also Turn A, which seemed pretty weird at the time too but has since been embraced as a stone cold classic and has a very nice MG, although it took some time to come out. There is also an MG Turn X, another one of their suits once thought too fringe for MG.

Gundam X seems more popular that it was on release. The Acguy used to be a minor MS as well and now it’s more popular than most Gundam.

All this talk of models reminds me of a bootleg Gundam I had dozens of that I sold off years ago. It was a large model just put together without glue on a blister card but it was all unpainted. Very cool but I wasn't into models at the time. Just girls and money So I was selling them but it was pre internet and I never took a pic of them.

tasuke wrote: which means i should probably give up on holding out for an MG, and settle for another copy of the original 1/100 HG AIRMASTER, same as the one i had back in the late-90's that i did a terrible job on. oh well, at least now i've the skills to do it reasonable justice... Well, it does require more skill for sure. To build properly in fact it takes a ton of work because it has seems and hollow parts and all that stuff. It used to be common for fans to overcome these issues but they don’t exist in newer kits so either be happy with seams or buy some files and Mr Surfacer.

The ones from 1981, yes. Not 90s kits. They didn’t have serial injection (the ability to make a single tree more than one color) until HGs came about but they were molded in color, more or less. Every tree is usually one color and you only have color separation when you have parts separation which isn’t as often as now. Now they make a shield out of 13 pieces but back then it was two. They require painting for good results but when they make the box photos they don’t allow the modeler to do his best. They make them keep it realistic. Most model companies do this for their own good. Think of it as a learning opportunity. You may like it. If I was just buying stuff and snapping it together I would have quit models ages ago. If Japanese 14 year olds could do it 30 years ago then you can. They didn’t even have Mr Surfacer or Gundam markers in the 80s!
