Bad news for those of us feverishly waiting to see Mario Merola burst a bunch of gangster skulls with his bare hands like the tubby, plank-weilding shipyard-owning Adonis that he is.

I went to visit the Raro USA Web site yesterday in order to send my regular 2 emails a week asking when we will get to see the spectacular Napoli La Camorra Sfida La Città Risponde in glorious HD and I was greeted with this:

https://www.rarovideousa.com/films/pre-order-only-napoli-la-camorra-sfida-la-citt-risponde-naplesthe-camorra-challenges-the-city-hits-back-1979-directed-by-alfonso-brescia

Raro Video USA appears to be no more.

I'm devastated.

If you have been affected by this disaster too, you can seek help by calling The Samaritans. :(

I thought some other label picked up Raro a while ago. Was it Kino Lorber? I can’t remember.

It was indeed. Back in 2013.

https://criterioncast.com/news/kino-raro

I haven't tried contacting Kino Lorber, though looking at their site there appears to be no mention of Raro Video USA on it. What is odd though is the Raro Twitter account made mention back in August of this year of a new title release coming on October 25th.

I'm thinking that either they've let the Raro Site die and will merge it with Kino in some fashion, or it's getting a redesign. The question then begs why is the site expired?

Not only that but I wonder if anyone who has a pre-order with Raro has been contacted with any update as to if their pre-order(s) will be fulfilled or refunded? Is there anything in the USA akin to Companies House that could be searched publicly to determine if Raro Video USA is no more?

Aside, if Raro USA has gone for good, I'll be genuinely gutted. I'd suggest picking up Stunt Squad Blu Ray asap before it's gone for good. Hopefully someone will come along and pick up the rights to their catalogue, including the (in my case) much anticipated 1979 Mario Marola-led, Alfonso Brescia masterpiece.

Oh, and as a bonus piece, I found this wonderful 8mm version of this wonderful hyperfilm! Oh how I'd love that in my Poliziotteschi collection!
