Its a business, they will grade anything for a buck, also good for them they just drop these into the same sleeves they would drop LPs in, so no loss from the company.

What kind of moron would pay to grade a C7 copy of a dirt common Star Wars movie?

Per the eBay listing, the kind that hopes to flip it back on eBay for $700.

Okay now I saw it all.

Pawn stars:

I can buy a damn gold bar for the amount that is being asked.
There is no freaking way that a mass produced item like a VHS can cost this much just because it was put in an acrylic case.

There's a pretty good chance the guy who brought those in is part of the scam. It happened with the videogame episode.

I expect he’ll be selling shares soon, maybe with an associate app.

I won't comment.

Because I'm allergic to BS.

And I don't want to trigger my allergies at an alarming level!

So far only a few dummies fell for the scam (assuming some are not fake purchases to try to create a trend):

The Batman one is especially weird because the cover is graded at 8 but you can clearly see it has bents and creases, it would be a 6~7 at most on LDDb.
They can't even grade properly.

Nearly all of them listed by https://rainierconsignment.com/ (eBay), they handle grading + listing + shipping, pay the eBay fees + take their cut (26.5%+$5).

People dump their collections for $1/LD and they try to smell which one could trigger FOMO on eBay to flip them quickly?

Sounds a lot like WATA then.
