I thought I would order a pair of THX optimizer glasses and a baseball hat from the online store... guess what the postage came to.....

Product Qty Unit Price Ext Price THX1008 BASEBALL CAP 1 $7.99 $7.99

THXCO1012 THX GLASSES (INTERNATIONAL ONLY) THX GLASSES QUANTITY:1 PIECE 1 $5.97 $5.97

Subtotal: $13.96 Shipping& Handling: $83.44 + Tax: $0.00 + OrderTotal: $97.40 =

I removed the baseball hat and the postage has reduced to almost nothing.

I've sent them an email pointing out the excessive postage compared to when I order laserdiscs from USA.

THX is a joke today.

I got a free original THX baseball cap when complaining about THX Dante's Peak laser-rot. Yeah the hat to today is pants and same goes with the THX t-shirt. Since THX went private its gone from good to crap, overnight.

The staff at THX today sound like, the forum wannabes at avs that want to work at THX.

The rot on Dante's Peak is a safety feature. It's there to protect the owner from ripping his own eyes out in case he accidentally watches what is one of the worst movies ever made.

I hope they do an episode of How Did This Get Made? about Dante's Peak. That would be great.

I disagree, I think Dante's Peak is a fun, bad disaster film that hits all the right notes for a disaster film. It's not like Armageddon, a film so bad it's unwatchable.

Melancholia is an excellent disaster film - the ending, as the planet removes Earth's atmosphere, is quite scary. Kirsten Dunst is excellent in it.

THX became a joke when they started "certifying" VHS tapes. Their DVD player certification means less than nothing, with THX certified players routinely having problems like not displaying blacker than black, clipping the white level, terrible deinterlacing performance or excessive edge enhancement and high frequency roll off. My THX certified receiver totally died within 5 years of purchase, yet my Pioneer VSX-9300 and VSX-D1S receivers are still going strong.

THX made too many compromises for money and ruined what was a respected and useful program. Even the theater program became a joke with theaters allowed to recertify themselves. The THX logo on a DVD means nothing other than it has the logo.

I've read most on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/THX
Quote:
Prior to September 1, 1997, no longer being known as a "sound system", THX was removed from all theaters, with the exception for a couple of trailers that THX had then-recently created (such as its own mascot, Tex the Robot) in 1996, would vaguely be seen in theaters.

Yeah a lot of cinemas in the UK that was getting geared up with newer THX cinemas around mid early 90's only lasted a few years before being taken down off the THX of the site. Best cinema I went to with well I guess if you ripped the THX crossover out and replaced it with a JBL 5235 crossover it might very well sound great. High Wycombe screen 1 was fantastic lows literary press on the body!

Today that site has removed its THX around just near or after 1999 I heard? Too bad but since Lucas is greedy I really don't care for his, company or his rubbish star wars films no more. He fE$%ked up a good thing!

I wonder if THX certify plasterboard after-all that is what they use for the THX baffle wall and so that’s the biggest part of the trick plasterboard. Well plasterboard is cheap as chips and I don’t have to worry about paying too much for it with silly THX sticker badge on it.
