I just have to vent on this one. I got an e-mail from e-bay saying that I am not meeting minimum performance standards for a seller. I have only one complaint in 274 transactions and the complaint is about my failing to give feedback to a buyer. I checked my seller dashboard and the complaints listed is that my shipping charges are too high. I cannot tell you how many times I have shipped DVD's by media mail and have had to pay above the $3.00 that is the maximum that e-bay allows. What gives with them? There are many non-media mail items that I have shipped that have had shipping costs at the post office above what I have charged the buyer and I have had to eat the cost. This almost makes me want to cancel my account with e-bay. Has anyone else had a similar experience? |

Add the price of your shipping in your item and it is even easier. |

As long as people keep selling on the bay they will continue to push the limit, And to many rely on the income ebay brings to them. I dont understand why they can rate your shipping price at all. why should they decide what your shipping costs are ? gas, package material and shipping rate. ITs b******t, and I havent sold anything for over 2 years on ebay now. If the shipping is to high, then dont bid on it, pretty simple. I remember the last months I was active. Since I mostly shipped overseas the shipping time could deleyed by customs and post offices, so the rating was always low even if I shipped the day after payment. people also could delay the payment for weeks and then complain if they didnt get their items after 3 days. If it was over a week they opened a case and demand their money back. Not even sure I actually lost any money on not selling anymore, I see no different in my wallet so far. |

i can't even begin to start with the scams they do. if i told all of them would start doing it to everybody on the bay. one guy pulled a scam and i did email mikey since he did also buy from him. bought a CED from me, i tested it and watched it, everything was fine. he contacts me 30 days later for a partial refund, i said no so he gave me a negitive. looking at his feedback i was able to see that this was a scam that he pulled with others. he left feedback saying things like, disc had issues but seller agreed to partial refund. and did this about 6 times. so he would get all of his items for half price or leave negitive. |

Yep, I actually record most of the CEDs I send out now and watch them as well. I sell quite a bit and eventually it will catch up to you. I do what I can and after that, well, let the balls fly where they are. CEDs are very weird, and I am not going to argue with most people that buy them and for 8 bucks, I wont say much at all. What plays on one might not play on another. Which is weird as well. I make enough off the ceds to not worry about a few bad apples. |

I've just started getting into sales on ebay and I'm pretty dissapointed by it all. ebay says that 6$ is enough to ship 8 laserdiscs(some of them double discs) who do i blow at UPS or USPS to get that rate? |

charge the exact rate, you will get more money, 8 laserdiscs are 10 lbs with packing. A lot easier to do and it is usually pretty accurate. |

do calulated shipping, not the max that ebay allows. if you do calulated shipping you will not get burned. if your box set is 20 pounds and you put down that the packge weight is 20 pounds then the buyer will pay that cost. if you don't put calulated then you have to eat the cost. it's very simple to do it right and not to eat the cost of shipping, but sometimes i still take a .50 to 2.00 hit. that's the name of the game, i guess you would get more for your stuff at a fleamarket? paying the setup fees and then sitting in the sun all day long. getting nice a toasty |

Since it was free last month I put a few things up. Put a few up with buy it now prices as well as a start price. Since a few months ago I've learned to put free shipping and just build the shipping into it. It seems more worthwhile putting up things when the listing is free and sometimes like last month all 12 pictures are free so that helps some but its better than nothing. Don't get me started on the whole feedback thing since I've joined in 2001 I've had a lot of people sellers and buyers not ever give me feedback. No one seems to care about it though I've somehow kept a 100% rating all these years. The feedback system is stupider now than back then. Why can't I leave negative feedback anymore when its well deserved??? I miss the old days. Also I had changed the international shipping in the dashboard and recently I have to change the international shipping on every listing since they got rid of the option in the dashboard. I should leave and try another site but I'm so use to ebay and afraid of something different. Maybe I'll change if it gets really worse. |

where else? where else can you sell this stuff for the same prices? O.K. i list my discs here and on the bay, but sometimes i need to move product and ebay forces that issue. it either sells or it dosen't. here it will sometimes sell right away or sit, and i don't have the space to sit on some discs and have to move them out since i don't do LDs full time but rather sell what i don't want anymore or price stuff higher if i don't want to get rid of it. |

If they didn't change, Amazon would eat their lunch, since there isn't even a feedback for buyers. Ebay should just drop the buyer feedback, but if your a savy seller you use the buyer feedback to your advantage and try to make the customer feel good with an immediate fantastic feedback, this will more than often smooth the path to a return in favor. Always going to be a bad apple, try and cut these buyers off by blocking them or making your requirements more stringent. But be it that many fight the system and probably are bad business people/sellers and should not thus sell on ebay. |

Yeah, I agree, I sell some things on ebay, some here, some on amazon, some all over. Craigslist as well. Nothing comes close to ebay but I feel like ebay is going to change pretty quick or someone will just take ebays old model and go with it. Bonanza is pretty decent as well but nothing close to ebay. |

I figured i might try doing a seperate shipping cost once or twice, now I won't ever, unless i try doing calculated shipping, idk. Ebay is really starting to turn sour though. |

If you are a seller Ebay is great for getting new customers - that is the only reason I use it to sell. I offer free shipping. Ebay will consume most of your profits so once you have some return customers do all your sales privately or on LDDB.com. You'll save a fortune. I mostly just use Ebay for buying as it is still the cheapest place to pickup laserdiscs although the quality can be hit or miss depending on who you buy from. I try to stick to a set list of sellers to avoid disappointment. |

ebay dosn't put a cap on shipping unless you pick that type of shipping. same cost to all buyers. if you pick the caluate shipping to buyers location then you will get to charge what you want. it's really simple and i still don't get why this is an issue. |

Seriously, you go to the calculated shipping, click in media, type in 2 - 3 lbs and there you go! That is it. You now have calculated shipping world wide. If you want to add another shipping service, you click add shipping service and click priority. Easy as pie. |
