I've gotten sealed (non-rare) tapes in the last few weeks at thrifts for 33c to $1/ea, and a couple of good working VCR's for <$10. It's amusing to think that a tape's been waiting 10-15 years to be played. I'll second that. I recently picked up Steven Seagal's first 6 films on VHS for $0.15/ea at a thrift shop. The old tapes are great if you have small children as well. My 3 yr old daughter is very proud of her Disney collection. She doesn't care about PQ and I enjoy taking her thrift shopping with me. The DVD equivalent would be very expensive. Not to mention that tapes are much more "kid proof" than discs. Growing up, my brother and I used to love playing dominos with VHS tapes and Atari games! |

A high-end VHS Hi-Fi deck with quality companders makes an excellent audio tape deck, if nothing else. I would probably get one these if I didn't have a reel-to-reel deck. |

i'd say smaller than their LD counterparts, certain items that aren't on LD or DVD yet. |

There are quite a few that aren't very good, but there are a number of older action flicks (Cannon comes to mind) and 70s-80s horror that never made it laserdisc and I can't imagine every getting a proper DVD/Bluray release. |

1988's "DEFENSE PLAY" is a B-favorite of my childhood that so far has yet to see anything beyond it's initial VHS release; ![]()
