I'm interested in that state of VHS of this era. How common was it to find VHS in stores from 2004-2006? I stopped buying them around 2002. Are there any VHS that have any bonus features or are worth getting from this era for any reason whatsoever? Its seems cool to own star wars 1-3 ( you have the last two new S.W released on VHS), Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Super Hero movies on the format, from this era, just because they were released on it and of VHS's inherent quality being what it is. We are so used to seeing these films in digital crisp quality. Is there some kind of list or database that mentions all the movie international official releases from the 2000's on VHS? I even heard Avatar and wad of recent movies were released in Korea http://www.flickr.com/photos/moreska/6530843017/http://www.flickr.com/photos/moreska/68 ... otostream/

Supposedly Cars was released in 2006 or 2007.
I think if you search hard enough you'd be able to order new original VHS releases from korean stores online.

Other Asian markets had releases on Betamax for several years after the US stopped. Phillipines especially, as the Beta player was more popular there than VHS for a long time, and nobody could afford to just give up their Beta and go for VHS on a moment's notice like in the US.
China still markets HD DVDs, and has many HD DVD players around, possibly still being made, and the HD DVDs are probably state-sponsored bootlegs anyway. This is why China, with all its might, will never be a true world leader, too much theivery and too little originality. And before the PC police get on my case, I'm talking about China as it is nowadays, not the older dynasties that created so much art, architecture and scientific discovery.
Last major studio released VHS in the US was The Fog (new version) in letterboxed format. Several were available at local 99 cents store, and I have a few of them just for posterity. Or you might say "just for posterior" in the case of this filmed version which was so bad that it makes the original look like Ben-Hur in comparison.

I have seen only two of these bootlegs, both were "smuggled" in the country by a person who visited China. I once located a website a year ago where one could buy some, but since then it has been removed or moved. I suspect there's some sort of quiet copyright enforcement activity going on that keeps these things out of the US and other places, but here's a place where one can purchase legitimately made "burned" HD DVDs: http://socalemc.com/store.htm#!/~/categ ... rt=nameAsc
