I am moving into a 4 bedroom house. I am taking one of the rooms and making it a media room. There is going to be 3 television sets in it. 1 CRT for the CED and Laserdisc player. I am going to get as big as I can. I am going to have a tv for the nintendo systems my son loves so much which include an NES, a SNES and a Game Cube. Finally I am going to have a decent HDMI something or other that has the Xbox and Playstation hooked up to it. My main TV will have a laserdisc player and xbox hooked up to it downstairs. I have wanted to do this for a while and now get a chance. Hopefully I can get some decent audio hooked up to it. Though I might just run it though my receiver and skil the other tvs.

I am also not going to have cable. I figure between netflix, hulu+ and amazon I can get most everything I want.

How about some pics of the finished project when through with set-up !!?

Sound's cool, but three TVs sounds like it might take up a lot of space. If money isn't an issue, you could save space by getting a CRT projector (since they aren't fixed pixel and will not scale)
Or get a CRT TV for older systems (such as 480i/240p game consoles, LD players, etc.) and have a projector screen that drops down in front of it (for HD content via a DLP or LCD projector)

That could work as well. I need to figure out what will look best there. All suggestions are taken, lol.

If you want to go with a CRT and you want one that's big and will give you a great picture, then I would suggest one of the Sony XBR wega series, & they have the trintron picture tube. They are selling pretty cheap now on craigslist because of their weight, up to 300 lbs. Here's the specs on the biggest, 40" models, standard format screen, which gives you a widescreen image of almost 36":

http://reviews.cnet.com/direct-view-tvs ... 53304.html

Originally $3000. now selling for under $200 but you have to haul them away. They also come in 36" and 32" in the 800 HD series, and there is a standard definition model 400 series. Also have widescreen HD models of 34" which is the one I have that I got for only $80. Best set I ever saw for viewing the older formats. It also has built in 480i to 480p conversion, or you can get a DVDO HD model upscaler to go up to HD formats, and the DVDO converts PAL signals too.

If you also get a Plasma or LCD/LED set, you might want to check out this upconvertor for LD/VCR/CED/DVD units:

Or just keep them hooked up to the CRT.

I just picked up one of those 40" WEGAs, KV-40XBR800. Got it for $100 and it weighed a TON, but so worth it!

It will take up to a 1080i signal but also has an HDCP ready DVI input in case you want to play Blu-ray's on it.

A lot of HD CRT TVs will force all signals to run at either 480p or 1080i, which gives you the same problems as on a fixed pixel display.
I'd recommend getting a SD only CRT TV if SD material is your focus
