News just came in on FB that disclord (Ty) has unfortunately passed away. He died on Sunday morning from an unknown cause.

Ty and I grew to be close friends over the past year. I am going to miss him terribly.

RIP

:(

I was worried about him from some of his last posts, but hadn't gotten around to asking about him. 's a lesson there.

He had some health problems, but we're not sure at this time if they played any part in his passing.

I'm going to miss the hell out of him. I just sent him a "last e-mail" and I'm not sure if that made me feel better or worse.

:(

That is terrible news.

I read every one of his posts when I got the chance - they were always interesting, often humourous and highly informative.
He was the most knowledgeable person on laserdisc I ever encountered - definitely one of the great enthusiasts out there who shared his knowledge with so many. He will be sorely missed.

Didn't know him personally, but I've read many of his posts and got a good impression of him. He seemed like a really nice fellow. A great loss for sure. :(

Rest in peace.

Dang, that's a bummer. I just sent him a PM yesterday because I was wondering how he was doing. I know he was having all sorts of issues.

He truely was the Disclord. His expertise was totally unrivaled on this forum and therefore we'll likely never see anything like him again.

That's shocking news. I'm very sorry to hear that.
I always admired him for his knowledge and expertise and that he shared it with us. A BIG BIG THANK YOU Disclord

He posted a while back that he had done a lot of interviews with Discovision and Phillips people for a book - which I was hoping to read one of these _'s.

I've known him since 1995 when I first got onto AOL, and talked to him on the phone many times but never actually met him. He was the first person other than myself I ever knew who actually cared about DiscoVision laserdiscs.

Not to sound like a materialistic b*****d, but where is all his stuff going? I know he had a lot of rare and valuable LDs, including some prototype flexible laserdiscs which will actually play on modern players.

And I just posted on his Facebook page that I would be glad to take over the completion of that book if nobody else is doing it- I could at least compile and edit the material he had together.

Oh my goodness. It's just awful. He seemed so knowledgable about film and LaserDisc. May he rest in peace.

I'd be interested in working with the materials too, but I'm probably not the best person to actually write it - it'd probably be a bit stilted ;) But I could definitely be useful on any technical stuff that needs fleshing out.

Hopefully his family can either enjoy his collection (including an X0!) and/or sell it - and that he was able to move it all out with him to New Mexico.

People tell me I'm a good writer (I've written DVD and Blu-Ray reviews for a website before, though I had to stop that after having problems in school.) I don't consider myself a big authority on laserdisc though I know more than the average person; maybe a bunch of people should pool their resources to get that book finished. Seems like it would be a waste if he'd already been putting it together and not finished it.

Very sad day indeed.

I validated all his updates and will let his account get automatically removed after 380 days. His last login was 26 days ago.

All his forum posts will remain under "disclord".
