ios wrote: does Once look the same as the regular version and just says DVD-A or does it have a different cover?..I've been thinking of finding and possibly get it if I found it Here's a picture I found of the version I have, I can take better quality pictures when I get home if you like: As with most DVD-As it comes in a tall jewel case. The surround mix is pretty good, though I remember thinking that the vocals were too centralised. There's also an added sound effect of a penny dropping at the end of Planet Hell that isn't in the CD mix. There's also bonus tracks (including an excellent cover of Symphony of Destruction with Marco on vocals) and music videos (a downside though is that the video for I Wish I Had An Angel is the version for the Alone in the Dark film rather than the original Finnish video). It's been ages since I've listened to it as I've not had a surround set up for quite a few years now. Will hopefully dust it off and give it a spin again some day. When I was last in Helsinki I also found a copy of Dark Passion Play on DVD-A but didn't buy it due to the lack of current surround set up, good to know it's out there though. Hope this helps.

Own a handful ... DVD-A David (Bowie) Live at the Tower Philadelphia The Very Best of the Foundations Linkin Park (Reanimation) SACDElton John * Captain Fantastic * Madman Across the Water * Tumbleweed Connection Living Stereo Brahms Tchaikovsky Violin concertos ... Chicago Symphony REINER I like the formats but the discs are just too high priced for an avid bargain hunter like me. I listen to my music on vinyl (mostly) and the Redbook CD formats. Own a really nice CD player ... The AH! NJOE TJOEB 4000 CD Player ... stock Marantz model CD-4000 modified by the dutch with a "tubed output stage" ... it makes Redbook CD(s) tolerable once the tubes warm up. http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0501/tjoeb4000.htm

SACD: Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon
This SACD is utterly amazing, I highly recommend it to any Pink Floyd fan. I have the equipment to fully enjoy this disk in all its 5.1 glory, now I want more SACD's

anyway there's a way too many cds to get for this franchise its so ridiculous http://www.pustan.com/anime/eva8.htmlThey probably made them just because they felt like it Have there been any other anime related DVD-Audio releases at all? I can think of some (or was it only one?) SACD that Ghibli made, but nothing else comes to mind. And while I bought a bunch of Evangelion CD's, I would not dare and try to collect them all. Simply too many of them out there.

Ed I have this disk as well, and if your a pink floyd fan, you definitely should pick this up (and an SACD compatible player).

My only DVD-Audio disc is Holst The Planets The Mystic Trumpeter Royal Scottish National Orchestra Label its under is: NAXOS 5.11004 The mix on it is rubbish the centre from far as I can recall is mute or rather nothing encoded onto centre discrete only the left and right fronts alone with stereo surrounds and LFE.1 I can’t recall if its got one or if its very faint in level. Sigh it was a waste of money, and I have other versions of the planets that is only CD audio Stereo with better mix quality and demo dts CD that has track from Mars the bringer of war that is warm sounding punchy lows over LCRS and supernova LFE.1 that goes below 20Hz!!

ios wrote: Once came in the mail and it shows other tracks on it but I can only play 12 tracks and also no video clips like it shows on the back cover. Is this normal or did I get ripped off. I'm using a Pioneer DV-58AV I'm not sure. I only have one DVD-A, when I put it into the player I get a standard DVD menu with the options of playing the album in 5.1 or 2.0 as well as an extras menu. On this disc one of the bonus tracks (an unused track from the album) plays after the album while the others (live and re-mixes) are in the bonus menu along with any videos. I assume this will vary from disc to disc but if you have a menu with a bonus section I'd recommend checking there.
