If anyone is as mental about Doctor Who as I am then you'll be very excited about todays announcement that two missing episodes have been rediscovered! Galaxy 4 episode 3 and The Underwater Menace episode 2! The Underwater Menace episode 2 is now the earliest known surviving episode to feature Patrick Troughton as the Doctor.

You can read about the discovery and see clips here:
http://news.drwho-online.co.uk/Two-Lost-Doctor-Who-Episodes-Found!.aspx

There are still 106 missing episodes out there to be discovered, hopefully one day they'll all be found. These are the first to be rediscovered since 2004.

Of course Doctor Who isn't the only show missing episodes; Z Cars, the Likely Lads and Dads Army all suffered the same fate.

If any of you out there collect old film and video reels just have a quick glance over them to see if there are any other hidden gems from the early days of the BBC.

That is beyond awesome. How dumb were the people in television in the 70's to tape over all the greats?
