I took you guys advice and got two crt tvs. My wife found a decent 32 Inch JVC for 20 bucks and I took it to the new 80s den. I thought to my self, hey self, we got a 32 inch TV us a flight of stairs, how much harder would it be to take a 37 inch tv up a flight of stairs. Well, lets just say that a 37 inch WEGA tv weights a little bit. Lol, regardless, a lot of pushing, shoving and swearing later, I now have a set of very nice TVs in my room that I got for 60 bucks total. I picked up the Sony for 40 bucks. It is an older model, but I am happy. Now, to find a 40 inch and really have my wife hate me.
So far I have a Pioneer dvd/laserdisc player dvl 909 and a selectavision on the Sony and a NES, SNES and a Genesis on the JVC. I have a futon I am making and as soon as I get the posters up I will take pictures.

Hey, back in 2004 when I moved into my new place (new to me) I brought out my 64" Pioneer CRT rear projector set on the pick-up truck. This was a flatbed truck, so it was off the ground a good ways. I got that thing off the truck by myself, very carefully. Then managed to get it rolled over to the door, then had to go up 3 porch steps! I rigged up a ramp with 2x8 boards, rolled the thing up the ramp, blocked it, took a rest, pushed again another foot up, blocked and rested, until it was almost balanced evenly on the door thresh-hold. Then I ran around to the other door, went inside and tipped it into the house carefully and pulled enough to put 51 percent of the weight inside. Ran back outside and pushed it the rest of the way in. then back and forth easing it around corners and through inside doors. Thankfully, it worked perfectly upon testing, and it is still here going strong.
Then 2 yrs ago I got a 34" Wega widescreen, over 200 lbs, and had to bring it up an almost 30 degree incline. This time I had the assistance of two guys claiming they had weak backs so they really didn't do much. That was another trek, but well worth it after hook-up.
Fortunately, I had plenty of experience with heavy items, often loading and unloading vintage stoves and fridges on my pickup alone with only a dolly and a good understanding of leverage and balance - back when I was a lot younger though. It's really tough when you have to heave something that weighs more than you do.
That 40" wega is supposed to be over a 300 pounder. Better go for the HD model if you're going to heave one that up.

I do have the 40" and it's not fun moving that 300 lb monster, though I do have some buyers remorse as I should have held out until I could find this one . . . http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model- ... #/howtoTabSlightly smaller at 36" and lighter at 240 lbs, but it makes up for it by having higher resolution (highest of all 4:3 WEGAs), and built in ATSC tuner and HDMI input.

Some people would dump the CRT with, hey hold on why not sell it on ebay for easy money. Well I have 32” Panasonic CRT flat screen tube and its damn back busting as I tried moving it on my own once to move the sub around or rather place the CRT on the sub and usually that is (a no, no) as the CRT would be damaged by the magnet from the sub. It didn’t work out I saw discolouring and moved it off the sub and back to how it was and the CRT returned to fine condition again. But it was back busting heavy!! Also not easy to counterbalance as you really need two people to move. I can see why flat screens a bit easy but lager ones still requires two people to move it hold to put into place on wall bracket. Usually moving up stairs if the stairs are carpeted try and place it in way that most of it fits over a few steps then lean in and PUSH!!! It should then easily start to slide up providing of course your still pushing otherwise let go and it would be like ((whoosh BANG!)) “Well there’s another fine mess” When my friend brought it around for me a few years ago I think for £50.00 or £60.00 and it was only 7 years old? Still give a nice contrast brightness and colour tone. He and his son carried up 3 flights of stairs. Not easy. Also when you think about the weight is fine and easy to lift if it was weights! Its the shape size of the TV that makes it hard to handle a CRT! I also used to have Sony multi-standard monitor years ago it was produced in the mid late maybe yes late 80’s it was silver it tuner TV box and multi-input video mode system for other devices I think it was only 28” and it was not easy to lift pick it was a pig! It had two handles that pulled out on the top of the CRT so two people can easily lift. But even still I don’t know it felt like a ton of lead was stuffed inside it! Whew damn heavy.

I love the retro look, esp if you can 80s the TV stuff as much as possible. My 64" pioneer CRT from 2000 unfortunately is 90s style, so I just left everything on it that black 90s look and even painted the CED player to match. See it here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=170I got a great deal on a non-working Mitsubishi 50" rear projector with great oak cabinet and those folding type doors that tuck away into the side. After modification, the Sony Wega fit right in and with room for a shelf for equipment. I left the speaker cloth in, but replaced the speakers as they were blown, and made hookups for the receiver/amp to them and room for the subwoofer. This is all on heavy duty rollers, so that set can roll anywhere in the house (one story). I could have fit an LCD or Plasma into it, but iot was hefty enough for the wega. That's my 80's cabinet, and everything is the silver/woodgrain look. If you ever come across an old rear projector with a great cabinet with doors, no reason to toss it. At the very least, even if you don't put a TV in it, it makes a fine armoire for clothes.

That thing is a monster, always wanted the 40" tube but had to make due with the 36" which sucks to move by yourself doubt i could move that 40 alone though

I had a Toshiba 38" glass tube TV for a few years and I moved 3-4 times with it. It was always the worst part since there wasn't a good way to grip it and there was always stairs involved. I never weighed it but I think I tried looking up the specs and it was around 180lb. These 250lb TVs you guys have.....I don't even want to think about that.
