Christ on a bike! Whatever that thing is on the left it makes me feel like I've had my retinas smashed in by a small toffee hammer!

pretty sure it is intended to be a TRANSPORTER PAD,
with, i suppose, the best mechanism that the MEGO designers could manage to come up with,
in order to simulate the TRANSPORTER BEAM SFX...

Yes, its the transporter room, you spin the blue knob with figure and press one of the buttons to have them appear or vanish.
Then figure would be on other side and you would have a blank drawing of the transporter room.

Had the UK Palitoy/Mego version and it was a cool toy but can't remember which buttons did what.

Do you have to take anything illicit, play a Pink Floyd record or raid your grandma's expired medicine cabinet before spinning it?

Blast from the past mang.

Thanks for the memories !

I find it odd that I never bought any ST TNG figures as much as I loved the show. I did however read almost all the books from TOS up to Voyager though mostly stuck with TNG books. I did also have a model of Enterprise but that was it. I might have to start collecting the toys since I missed out but Evangelion is pretty much all I collect these days.

The clones aren't 100% the same as genuine, for starters they're nearly always based on old versions plus most types can't be updated...there are some exceptions though, like the ED64 clone I have can use the shipped Chinese OS and also a modded OS which allows some extra roms and hacks to work.

The plus side of any of them is the price if you buy straight from China. I got all of mine very cheap.
The Famicom N8 clone I got can't be updated with official firmware but it looks 100% legit...outer case, sticker and the board all look correct. Price was less than a third of the cost of the equivalent genuine cart (not the more recent Pro version).

I'm definitely happy with all of the clone flash carts I have. I've saved hundreds of dollars and they play everything I want them to at the moment. It's possible there might be the odd cart here and there that I can't get to work (eg Super Everdrive won't play some SNES/SFC roms dumped from carts with special chips) but most titles like that aren't important to me right now.

Yeah, cool as marbles !
You could get it going too ! It was a spin knob if I recall correctly. My memory does not serve how those three knobs play out.
Would never have thought of it again if not for that picture being posted.
Memory lane big time.... just not the memories for operating it !
The figures were fairly well made, and the phasers were fun to put in the "Kung foo grip" hands......

I recall most of my playtime involved "getting off the bridge".....

Fun stuff here !

Cheers .....

Snagged a copy of the Clerks Animated Series on DVD at goodwill today ($3).

Not the best find in the world, but now I won't have to rely on crappy DVD rips that are uploaded in 240p on youtube.

Scored these at a local thrift store yesterday afternoon super cheap. Was especially interested in watching "The Three Kingdoms" since it implies it has English subtitles, while I had no idea what the second even was due to a lack of English on the case.

I suspect both series are bootlegs. Sadly, The Three Kingdoms has no English at all! It's entirely in Mandarin, with what I presume are hard coded Cantonese subtitles. And hilariously, the DVD labels bare the "HD DVD" logo.

The Genghis Kahn series is a 20 VCD set. It actually features hard coded English subtitles, which was a nice surprise since the case has no English on it at all. Took some asking around to find someone who could identify what the series was, but someone who is a fan of Asian action series positively ID'd it just from the front cover.

There are English fan subs for Three Kingdoms.
It's a pretty epic show, I've watched the whole thing several times.

Going later to the Pretoria area to pick up a Sony ES EV-S7000 Hi8 VCR with a few tapes. This is off our local Facebook marketplace. It looks in mint shape.
For 1200ZAR. That works out to under $70.
