Yesterday I got an A/V Selector: Sony SB-V55A. It has 4 inputs and 1 output. It switches composite video and stereo audio and can also switch S-Video. I like this switcher in that it switches when it detects video and after 10 minutes of no signal, it shuts down. Unfortunately, this switcher was discontinued by Sony many years ago.

My DVDO VP50 works that way with input set to auto. Love automatic video and audio switching!

1986 FISHER FVH-950 VHS VCR $6.00 at my local GW; complete with remote and manual. a little mechanism relube, and it took right off and went like new.

an average performer, -so far as HI-FI STEREO VHS goes- but it's a sexy looking piece of A/V gear, -in that mid-80's sort of way-
and i certainly don't really need it -owning the pair of superlative late-80's TOTL S-VHS decks that i do-
but it sure don't hurt to have it sitting around looking pretty and serving as a high-tech pedestal for some of my secondary games consoles to rest atop...

your HiFi player looks very nice with the VU meters.
gotta love HiFi stereo players from the 80's and 90's, they are so beautiful looking.

I never liked Fisher coz it was a budget brand like Goldstar and others.
Fisher didn't offer the same build quality like the other more expensive brands.
back in the days most players sold in Sweden was merely garbage mono players, HiFi stereo players were very expensive.

does digits on display still lit up sharp or are digits faded from dry caps?
caps maybe still going strong on this Fisher?

on ebay there are many VHS/S-VHS players from the late 90´s with crappy and faded displays.
component quality went down in the 90's when companies like Panasonic/JVC cut costs on component quality

yeah, amazingly enough, everything seems to work like new on this example.

rather unusual, actually, as these 80's SANYO/FISHER models were usually not known for their longevity...

A couple of days ago, I got from an E-bay seller a Heathkit Stereo-4 Decoder. The Decoder is for LP records recorded in the Stereo-4 format for Quadraphonic sound. I don't think that I own more that 5 records recorded in this format. I already own an Electro voice decoder which does a fair job; but, you never know if another maker could do a better job.

I recently bought a bottle of WD-40 Specialist Electrical Contact Cleaner Spray. The spray was used immediately on my Remote Controls (Laserdisc & TV), on smartphone connections and i also cleaned my NEO GEO AES completly.
This Contact Cleaner is Brilliant, i highly recommend it!

I've been using regular ol WD-40 on all my remote battery contacts for years. It also stops my chairs from squeaking and makes a nice air freshener as well as a refreshing beverage.

I've recently bought a Synology DS418j 4-bay NAS to store all the useless crap I accumulated in the last 20 years in a raid.
Can let go my old external USB hard disks now.

Bought a used one of these monitors:

Image
Dell Ultrasharp 2408Wfp 24" Monitor

A friend of mine shared her ComiXology account with me, so needed something better with which to read comics digitally. This one is perfect as sharpness and color reproduction is amazing and the swivel stand makes it so easy to put it in "portrait mode" for comic viewing.

Plus the crazy amount of connections is cool:

Apple tv 4K 32gb. After an initial disappointment with its fixed always on HDR, output resolution and frame rate, I managed to get it working ok with the beta firmware. Tvos11.2 beta allows you to match the contents frame rate and does not convert sdr to hdr at all times. The output resolution is still fixed. As far as i know there is no true streamer transport which will output source direct.

I bought this a while ago, but just now had a chance to open it and test it. Onkyo FR-N9 Hi-MD Shelf Component:

Image
Onkyo FR-N9 (X-N9) Hi-MD Component

Bought it used off of Yahoo Japan. Wasn't sure if it was going to work or not when I unpackaged it (the auction lot said they confirmed the CD playback, but not MD), but lucky me! It works!

Always found it odd that Sony never produced a Hi-MD deck (they only made portables), but Onkyo did.

Yeah, shame it never truly took off as a format.

Too many people want quantity over quality when it comes to music.
